Madrid, Aug 07 (V7N)- Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior has signed a new long-term contract with Real Madrid, ending speculation over a potential move away from the Spanish club.
Real Madrid confirmed on Thursday that the 26-year-old has extended his stay at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2032.
The contract extension comes after months of transfer speculation linking Vinicius with several top European clubs, including Arsenal, as his previous deal had entered its final year.
According to reports, negotiations over a new contract had stalled for more than a year before the Brazilian international accepted Real Madrid's revised offer on Wednesday.
Vinicius joined Real Madrid from Brazilian club Flamengo in 2018 and has since become one of the club's key players. He has scored 128 goals in 375 appearances, helping Los Blancos win two UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga championships, and one Copa del Rey.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid also strengthened their squad by signing Yann Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal reportedly worth around £120 million (€140 million).
Diomande becomes the club's sixth signing of the current transfer window under head coach Jose Mourinho, following the arrivals of Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella, and Carlos Espin.
