Mainz, Jun 01, (V7N) – Four-time world champions Germany delivered an impressive performance on home soil, defeating Finland 4-0 in an international friendly as they continued preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
Playing at the Mewa Arena on Sunday, Germany dominated possession and controlled the tempo from the opening whistle, leaving Finland with little opportunity to threaten.
The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when striker Dennis Undav rose highest to meet Joshua Kimmich's corner and headed home to give the hosts a deserved lead. Germany maintained control for the remainder of the first half and went into the break ahead 1-0.
The Germans returned from halftime with even greater attacking intent. Just three minutes into the second half, Florian Wirtz doubled the advantage after being set up brilliantly by Undav.

The former world champions are scheduled to play one final warm-up match against hosts the United States on Saturday before opening their World Cup campaign against Curacao on June 14.
