Miami, May 14 (V7N) — Argentine superstar Lionel Messi delivered another standout performance, setting the record for the fastest 100 goal contributions in Major League Soccer history as Inter Miami CF defeated FC Cincinnati 5-3 on Wednesday.
Messi scored twice and provided an assist in a thrilling encounter as Miami secured an important victory despite facing strong resistance from Cincinnati.
Inter Miami started the match aggressively, with captain Messi opening the scoring in the 24th minute through a clinical finish.
However, after the break, Cincinnati mounted a comeback and overturned the scoreline to take the lead, putting Miami under pressure.
Messi responded by helping his side level the match again, combining effectively with Luis Suarez during the attacking move.
The Argentine forward later completed his brace and also contributed to another goal for his teammates. Although he appeared close to securing a hat-trick late in the game, MLS officials ruled the final touch as an own goal.
Inter Miami eventually sealed an impressive 5-3 victory after previously trailing 3-2.
With his latest two goals, Messi’s tally in professional football has now reached 910 career goals.
