Mirpur, May 10 (V7N)- Bangladesh bowlers made early inroads on the third day of the Mirpur Test, as the visitors lost four top-order wickets during the first session despite adding 72 runs to their overnight total.
The match is being held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan resumed their innings at 1 for 179, but struggled against disciplined bowling from the hosts. The early momentum quickly shifted as Bangladesh struck at regular intervals.
Pacer Taskin Ahmed and all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz took two wickets each to put Pakistan under pressure.
Taskin Ahmed achieved a personal milestone in the process, becoming only the third Bangladeshi fast bowler after Mashrafe Mortaza and Shahadat Hossain to reach 50 Test wickets. He removed openers Azan Awaish and Shan Masood, marking a significant achievement in his Test career.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz also played a key role in breaking the middle order, dismissing Saud Shakeel and Abdullah Fazal with effective spin bowling.
Despite losing wickets, Pakistan’s Azan Shantar managed to reach a century before being dismissed after a catch involving Shan Masood and Sadman.
At the end of the session, Salman Agha and Mohammad Rizwan remained at the crease, attempting to stabilize the innings for the visitors.
