Paris, Apr 29 (V7N) — Paris Saint-Germain produced a stunning performance to defeat Bayern Munich 5–4 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final, in one of the most dramatic encounters in recent history.
Wingers Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia starred for the hosts, each scoring twice in a breathtaking contest at the Parc des Princes.
Bayern struck first when Harry Kane converted a penalty in the 17th minute. PSG responded quickly, with Kvaratskhelia equalizing just seven minutes later from a well-worked move. Midfielder João Neves then gave the home side the lead with a powerful header from a corner in the 31st minute.
The German side fought back before halftime, as Michael Olise leveled the score in the 41st minute. However, PSG regained the advantage in stoppage time when Dembélé converted a penalty following a handball by Alphonso Davies, sending the hosts into the break 3–2 ahead.
PSG came out firing in the second half, scoring twice in quick succession. Kvaratskhelia netted his second goal in the 56th minute from an assist by Achraf Hakimi, before Dembélé completed his brace just two minutes later to make it 5–2.
Bayern responded with determination. Dayot Upamecano pulled one back in the 65th minute with a header from a free-kick delivered by Joshua Kimmich. Shortly after, Luis Díaz scored with a powerful strike to reduce the deficit to 5–4.
Despite intense end-to-end action in the closing stages, neither side could find another goal. PSG held on to secure a narrow but crucial advantage heading into the second leg.
The return fixture will take place in Munich on May 6, where Bayern will look to overturn the deficit on home soil.
