Ahmedabad, Mar 07 (V7N) – Hosts India will face New Zealand in the final of the T20 World Cup tomorrow, Saturday, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm Bangladesh time.

The stadium, however, has not always been kind to India. In the 2023 ODI World Cup, they lost to Australia at this venue, and this year suffered a defeat to South Africa during the tournament. Despite this, India is aiming to claim back-to-back T20 World Cup titles, having won previously in 2007 under MS Dhoni and 2024 under Rohit Sharma.

New Zealand, meanwhile, is chasing its first T20 World Cup title. The Kiwis were runners-up in 2021, losing to Australia. They have also reached the finals of the 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cups but have yet to lift the trophy.

In the semi-finals, New Zealand defeated South Africa by 9 wickets, led by Finn Allen, who scored the fastest century in T20 World Cup history. India edged past England by 7 runs in a high-scoring semi-final featuring 499 runs and 34 sixes, showcasing their formidable firepower.

Key players to watch in the final include Finn Allen and Matt Henry for New Zealand, while Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah are expected to be India’s game-changers. Both teams previously met in the Champions Trophy final, adding another layer of rivalry to the showdown.

With over 100,000 spectators expected in the Ahmedabad gallery, the stage is set for a thrilling finale between two teams hungry for glory.
