Miami, Jun 01 (V7N) – Inter Miami cruised to a commanding 5-1 victory over Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer (MLS), with Lionel Messi stealing the spotlight once again by scoring two goals and assisting two more. The Argentine superstar also set a new milestone, becoming Inter Miami's all-time top scorer in MLS history.

The match, held at Chase Stadium in Miami, saw the hosts dominate from start to finish. Goals from Luis Suárez, Fafà Picault, and Diego Allende added to Messi’s brace, sealing an emphatic win over the defending MLS champions.

Messi has now scored 31 goals for Inter Miami in MLS, surpassing the previous club record of 29 goals held by fellow Argentine Gonzalo Higuain. Notably, Messi reached the milestone in just 38 matches, while Higuain needed 67.

With this latest performance, Messi continues to prove his impact in the league since joining the club in 2023.

Looking ahead, Inter Miami is set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup, where they will face African champions Al Ahly of Egypt in their opening match on June 15.

Before that, Messi will briefly join Argentina's national team for the upcoming South American World Cup qualifiers. The Albiceleste will take on Chile on June 6 and Colombia on June 11.
