Dhaka, Sep 13 (V7N)- World-class healthcare can be ensured in Bangladesh if technology experts and researchers work together through effective coordination, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Vice President of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, has said.
She made the remarks on Sunday afternoon at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair, held at the Novotheatre auditorium in the capital.
Dr. Zubaida Rahman said plans are underway to transform the country’s health sector in a way that could eventually contribute 5 percent to Bangladesh’s GDP.
She also said the government has taken various initiatives to expand healthcare services to the country’s most marginalized communities.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Health Dr. M A Muhit said the government is working on trials for a dengue vaccine.
He also announced plans to establish a vaccine research institute in Bangladesh to strengthen the country’s capacity for vaccine development and research.
The State Minister said developing the health-tech industry could also help address the chaotic conditions often seen in hospitals.
Calling on young people, particularly members of Generation Z, to play an active role, he urged them to come forward and contribute to transforming Bangladesh’s healthcare sector through technology and innovation.
