Dhaka, Feb 15 (V7N) — Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has alleged election irregularities and intimidation, stating that the politics of “rigging, fear, and result manipulation” is incompatible with the vision of a new Bangladesh after July.

He made the remarks in a post on his verified Facebook page on Monday.

In his statement, Nahid Islam claimed that incidents at several polling stations raised serious questions about the credibility of the vote.

He specifically mentioned the presence of BNP leader Barkat at a polling center in Ward No. 38 of Badda Adarshnagar Vidya Niketan, alleging that live media broadcasts showed individuals sitting in polling agent seats of other parties chanting slogans in favor of BNP candidate MA Qayyum.

Nahid Islam said that according to initial calculations he was leading by a significant margin, but the gap narrowed sharply in the final results, creating doubts among voters.

He further alleged that attempts to alter results continued at polling centers until early morning, with eyewitnesses reporting intimidation by supporters of the BNP candidate.

Tension was also reported during the announcement of final results at a polling center in Banasree Ideal School and College, he added.

Emphasizing the broader political context, Nahid Islam said the country’s people would ultimately respond to any attempts to undermine their mandate.

He wrote that despite what he described as visible irregularities, he remains confident that public opinion will prevail against what he termed conspiracies.
