Thakurgaon, Feb 04 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday said that no one can go to heaven without respecting mothers and sisters, alleging that a political party is misleading people in the name of Islam while showing disrespect toward women.
He made the remarks while addressing an election road meeting in Thakurgaon.
Mirza Fakhrul said a party is deceiving voters by claiming that women will attain heaven if they vote for the scales symbol, while their own actions contradict Islamic values. “They are telling mothers and sisters that voting for them will ensure heaven, but Muslims believe in deeds, not deception,” he said.
Criticizing Jamaat-e-Islami, the BNP leader said the party does not practice Islamic politics. “A party has come before you today—you know them well. They were with us before and are now contesting elections again. Even if you do politics, do not lie,” he said.
He further claimed that although Jamaat speaks in the name of Islam, its own Ameer has stated that the party is not an Islamic party. “They talk about Islam, but Islam teaches respect, honesty, and righteous deeds,” he added.
It may be noted that Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is contesting the 13th National Parliament election from Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
