Sirajganj, Feb 01 (V7N) — Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, head of the National Citizens Party (NCP) election management committee, has urged voters not to be influenced by money and to exercise their right according to their conscience.
He made the remarks during a brief roadshow at the BSCIC bus stand area on Sunday afternoon while campaigning for Saif Mostafiz, the 11-party alliance candidate for the Sirajganj-6 constituency, in support of the upcoming yes vote referendum.
“You still think that you will buy votes with 500 or 1,000 taka. I have heard people say that they will take the money but give their vote where they want,” Sajeeb said. He added, “You will take money from those who have earned thousands of crores of taka through looting and defaulting on bank loans. But you will give your vote to those who can change your life.”
Referring to political parties, he claimed that almost all officially support a yes vote, except for a self-proclaimed party in Delhi whose field leaders allegedly campaign for a no vote. “At the grassroots, they try to mislead villagers by saying if you vote yes, this will happen, that will happen. If they continue, we will expose their secret tactics,” he said.
Sajeeb also criticized the current economic rewards system, stating, “Those who truly boost the country’s economy do not get recognition. With support from BNP and the Awami League, the newly rich, middlemen, and capitalists get the reward. Our manifesto promises that if the alliance wins, all services will be provided through a smart card.”
He further remarked on historical sacrifices, saying, “A party talks about family cards, but Sharif Osman Hadi and Felani gave their lives in the anti-aggression movement. Yet if elected, they say nothing about confronting anti-aggression forces.”
