Sherpur, Feb 01 (V7N) — Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Sunday urged people to give a befitting response if anyone attempts to carry out terrorism during the upcoming elections, while emphasizing that the administration must be informed first before taking any action.

He made the remarks while addressing a public meeting organized as part of the election campaign of the 11-party unity in Sherpur on Sunday afternoon.

Referring to the killing of Jamaat Secretary Rezaul of Sribardi Upazila, Dr. Shafiqur alleged that the Jamaat leader was brutally beaten to death in the presence of law enforcement agencies. He said such incidents were not new for those involved, claiming they had previously caused the deaths of hundreds of their own party members. He questioned what kind of politics involved killing people in the name of security and alleged that no visible progress had been made in the murder investigation.

Addressing women and mothers, the Jamaat Ameer said that mothers are being disrespected in different places, calling such behavior inhuman. “Those who disrespect women do not know how to respect their own mothers, wives, and sisters,” he said, urging people to uphold dignity and moral values.

On election security, he stated, “If anyone wants to carry out terror during the elections, they should be given an equal reply. But before responding, the administration must be informed. If the administration fails to act, it becomes a duty to prevent such actions.”

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said Jamaat wants to hand over the future of Bangladesh to the youth, vowing to stand against discrimination, injustice, corruption, and extortion. “We will place the youth in the cockpit of Bangladesh and sit in the passenger seat,” he said, describing his vision of a youth-led future Bangladesh.

He also addressed the issue of his hacked X (formerly Twitter) account, saying false and offensive comments about women were posted from it. He apologized to any mothers who may have been hurt by the misinformation and alleged that the act was politically motivated.

Additionally, the Jamaat Ameer promised that if Jamaat comes to power, every district will have a government medical college and assured that railway connectivity will be expanded across the entire country.
