Dhaka, Dec 06 (V7N) — Considering the physical condition of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, there has been a delay in taking her abroad for advanced medical treatment, said her personal physician Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.
He said that although the air ambulance is ready at all times, the medical board believes it is not appropriate for Khaleda Zia to fly at this moment. She will be taken abroad only after the medical board gives its consent.
Dr. Zahid stated that Khaleda Zia’s physical condition will determine the timing of her overseas treatment. The highest level of medical care and security is being prioritized, and doctors are placing utmost importance on her physical well-being. “Everyone, including the doctors, wants her recovery,” he added.
He also said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is regularly supervising Khaleda Zia’s treatment and is giving priority to the opinions of the doctors. Due to her current physical condition, however, the decision to take her abroad has been delayed. Tarique Rahman’s wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, is coordinating her treatment process, while family members, party leaders and activists are being kept informed of the medical board’s decisions.
Referring to rumors circulating on social media, Dr. Zahid urged people not to be misled. He said the medical board remains optimistic and that maximum preparations have already been completed for her foreign treatment. Khaleda Zia will be safely flown abroad once doctors consider her physically fit for travel.
He further said that the Qatar government and the interim government are providing maximum cooperation in this matter, while hospital authorities and staff are also extending full support.
It may be noted that Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital for the past 13 days. She recently underwent an endoscopy due to stomach complications, during which some bleeding was detected but later brought under control. A medical board comprising local and foreign doctors is closely monitoring her condition.
