Dhaka, Dec 06 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury on Saturday said that the issue of an air ambulance is not the main concern, as Khaleda Zia’s treatment abroad will depend entirely on the decision of doctors.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at a programme held at a hotel in Banani in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

Amir Khasru said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman will return to the country very soon and that necessary preparations are already underway. “Tarique Rahman will lead the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections,” he added.

The senior BNP leader also said that discussions regarding electoral alliances and seat sharing are still ongoing. “Dialogue and discussion are an integral part of democracy. These talks must continue. The election process is underway and the entire nation is now moving towards the elections,” he said.

Regarding former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health condition, Amir Khasru said she has been receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for the past 13 days. He mentioned that Khaleda Zia underwent an endoscopy recently due to stomach complications. Although there was initial bleeding, the situation was later brought under control.

He further said that a medical board comprising both local and foreign doctors is closely monitoring her physical condition.

Meanwhile, Tarique Rahman’s wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, has arrived in the country to accompany her mother-in-law. She visited Khaleda Zia at the hospital twice on Friday.
