Dhaka, Dec 04 (V7N) – Qatar has officially confirmed its readiness to send an air ambulance if BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia needs to be taken abroad for advanced medical treatment.

According to party sources, the BNP had appealed to Qatar on November 29 seeking cooperation in arranging an air ambulance. Although the country expressed a positive response at the time, the decision was formally conveyed today.

Earlier in January this year, Khaleda Zia travelled to London for medical care using an air ambulance sent by the Emir of Qatar.

Meanwhile, a team of specialist doctors from the UK and China has joined the medical board overseeing her treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. The final decision on whether she can be moved abroad will depend on her current health condition and the recommendation of the medical board.

Khaleda Zia, now 80, has long been suffering from multiple health complications, including liver cirrhosis, kidney and heart ailments, diabetes, and arthritis.
