London, Nov 1 (V7N)- Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has said that there is no value in holding a referendum before the national election.

He made the remark at a press conference in East London on Friday, during his return journey to Bangladesh from the United States.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman asserted that Jamaat-e-Islami is committed to eradicating corruption from the country if it assumes power. He further pledged to ensure the voting rights of Bangladeshi expatriates worldwide.

Referring to allegations against 25 army officers accused of abduction and murder, the Jamaat chief said they have committed serious human rights violations that must be addressed.

The press conference was attended by Jamaat-e-Islami Europe spokesperson Barrister Abu Bakar Mollah, Save Bangladesh chairman Barrister Nazrul Islam, former Sylhet Metropolitan Jamaat secretary Sirajul Islam Shaheen, and Barrister Mahbubul Alam Salehi, among other party leaders.
