Dhaka, Oct 29 (V7N)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that despite the promise of a Note of Dissent in the July Charter, both the people and political parties have been misled by ignoring it in the implementation process.

He made the remarks at a publication event at the National Press Club on Wednesday (October 29) afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul warned that delays in the national election will further deepen divisions in the country. He stressed that Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is responsible for holding the elections as promised, and any disruption would be his responsibility.

He added that while discussions about the election began only after August 5, claims that a quick election was being demanded for power are being proven false. “The more the election is delayed, the stronger the fascist forces are getting, and those who want to see Bangladesh unstable are gaining ground,” he said.

On reforms, Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that BNP, born through reforms, can never be against reforms, criticizing the false propaganda campaign against the party. He urged that all reforms be subjected to a public vote to ensure legitimacy.

At the same event, Jonayed Saki, chief coordinator of the Mass Solidarity Movement, stated that no reform will be valid unless it receives approval from the elected representatives of the people.
