Dhaka, Oct 26 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that democracy cannot be established if elections are obstructed, warning that a return to confrontational politics would take the country back to the era of Sheikh Hasina.

He made the remarks while speaking at a discussion marking the 4th founding anniversary of the People's Rights Council at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Dhaka on Sunday morning.

Amir Khasru emphasized that differences among political parties should not lead to division, saying that every party has the right to express its own views in a democratic framework. “Even if we disagree, we must respect one another’s opinions,” he said, urging all sides to avoid conflict and violence in politics and to reach out to the public with their respective agendas.
