Dhaka, Oct 20 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the country’s education system is of extremely poor quality, holding politicians and the bureaucracy responsible for the decline.

He made the remarks on Monday afternoon (October 20) while speaking as the chief guest at a reception for students who achieved GPA-5 in the SSC examination, organized by the Institution of Diploma Engineers at its auditorium in Kakrail, under the program ‘Magazine University Tour’.

Criticizing the current state of education, Mirza Fakhrul said, “There is no technical education, no vocational training. We are only producing BA and MA graduates without practical skills.”

The BNP leader described the country as going through a transitional period, saying that the growing disunity and frustration in society reflect a failure of leadership. “Politicians control the fate of the country—some work to build the nation, while others use it to serve their own interests,” he added.

He also emphasized the need for honesty and integrity in politics, warning that the pursuit of wealth and power corrupts national ideals. “If there is no honesty in politics, then politics will never be beautiful. Coming to power with the mindset of creating wealth only earns hatred from the people,” Mirza Fakhrul remarked.

At the end of the program, certificates and crests were distributed among the meritorious students who secured GPA-5 in the SSC examination.
