Thakurgaon, Oct 16 (V7N)— BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that a certain political party is keeping the government occupied with various demands in an attempt to delay the upcoming national elections.

He made the remarks at a view-exchange meeting held at Danarhat Begunbari Union in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila on Thursday (October 16) morning.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the BNP seeks to win the hearts of the people through love, not revenge or vengeance, and reiterated that there will be no compromise on the voting issue.

“The people want elections in February. BNP stands firmly with that demand,” said the BNP Secretary General.

He accused a rival political group of conspiring to sabotage the election, adding that people are eager to exercise their right to vote.

Despite “hundreds of tortures and persecutions” under the Awami League government, Fakhrul said, the BNP never abandoned its cause.

“While in power, our leaders and activists were trapped in false cases. Yet, our only goal has been to end fascism and restore democracy,”he added.
