Natore, Oct 06 (V7N) – Sarjis Alam, Chief Organizer for the Northern Region of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has asserted that the Chittagong Hill Tracts are an inseparable part of Bangladesh, emphasizing that there can be no compromise on the nation’s sovereignty.

He said that both the government and law enforcement agencies must take strict action against those who conspire against the country—whether from within or abroad. Alam made these remarks at a press briefing held prior to the district coordination meeting organized at R.P. Convention Hall in the Kanaikhali area of Natore on Monday (October 6) morning.

Commenting on the party’s election symbol, Sarjis Alam said, “Since there is no legal obstacle to using the Shapla (water lily) symbol, the NCP will participate in the upcoming national elections under this symbol.” He urged the Election Commission not to allocate “symbols that make a mockery of the electoral process.”

Alam also warned that if the current Election Commission fails to maintain its credibility and denies the NCP the Shapla symbol, it would lose public confidence in its ability to function independently. “How can the people trust an Election Commission that cannot even assign a symbol to a registered party?” he questioned.

The meeting was attended by Rajshahi Divisional Organizing Secretary Imran Emon, Natore District Chief Coordinator Georges Kadir Babu, and other local leaders and activists. The divisional coordination meetings will continue in Rajshahi this afternoon, followed by Naogaon tomorrow morning and Chapainawabganj in the afternoon.
