Dhaka, Oct 03 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami organized a protest rally against the attack on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla and the detention of human rights activists. The rally took place at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka on Friday.
Rafiqul Islam Khan, Central Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, spoke as the chief guest. He criticized the United States for arming its ally Israel, calling it a “game of blood Holi.” He vowed that the struggle for Palestinian independence would continue and demanded the immediate release of all detained human rights activists.
Salim Uddin, Metropolitan North Ameer of the party, blamed the situation on the silence of so-called Muslim countries. He further stated that if the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) cannot act, it should be dissolved.
Meanwhile, several organizations have urged the interim government to take effective measures to ensure the safety of the Sumud flotilla en route to Palestine and protested Israel’s attack on the humanitarian mission.
