Dhaka, Sep 29 (V7N) – BNP Standing Committee member Major (retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has said that the “old game has started again in the hills,” while emphasizing that India has not yet declared independence due to Ziaur Rahman’s far-sighted decisions.

He made the remarks at a discussion titled “There is No Alternative to the National Parliament Election”, organized by the Nationalist Freedom Fighters’ Party and Freedom Fighters’ Generation, at the National Press Club on Monday (Sept 29) afternoon.

Criticizing Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz said:

“Jamaat is afraid of the verdict of the people. Two or three political parties cannot impose any electoral system on the advice of intellectuals from Europe and America. Jamaat has brought forward strange ideas knowing that it will not be able to win the elections. BNP will not accept anything imposed on the people.”

He further warned that BNP will respond on the streets if anyone attempts to disrupt the election.

The senior BNP leader also criticized the Chief Advisor’s visit to the United Nations with a 104-member delegation, questioning the necessity of such a large entourage.
