Dhaka, Sep 29 (V7N) – Former Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun has passed away. He died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 8:20 am on Monday (Sept 29).
Humayun, who first took charge of the Industries Ministry in 2019, was reappointed to the same post in 2024.
The former minister had been in prison since his arrest in a case filed over murder, assault, and vandalism in Narsingdi during the anti-discrimination student movement last year. On Sunday, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from prison after falling ill. He breathed his last while under treatment.
Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun began his political career by being elected as an independent candidate from Narsingdi-4 constituency in the third parliamentary election of 1986. Later, he was elected as a Member of Parliament four consecutive times as an Awami League candidate, most recently in the 12th National Parliamentary Election of 2024.
