Dhaka, Sep 25 (V7N) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has vowed to confront what he termed as “Awami League’s conspiracy against the country,” even a year after the coup. He expressed determination to move the nation forward despite political challenges.
The remarks came during a courtesy meeting with a high-level Chinese delegation, led by Mr. Zhou Pingjian, Vice President of the Chinese People’s Institute for Foreign Affairs, at Jamaat’s central office in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Thursday (Sept 25).
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Jamaat’s Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar said discussions centered on strengthening Bangladesh–China relations, global security issues, and Bangladesh’s upcoming national elections.
“Bangladesh and China wish to build close and friendly neighborly ties. In the talks, the Jamaat Ameer highlighted the oppression and repression of the previous government. Even after a year of the coup, the Awami League’s conspiracy continues. Jamaat is determined to resist such conspiracies and take the country forward,” said Parwar.
He added that Jamaat, as an election-oriented party, is preparing to participate in the upcoming elections and, if given the chance to govern, would “work as a servant of the people, not as a ruler.”
Meanwhile, Zhou Pingjian praised the long-standing China–Bangladesh diplomatic relations, expressing hope that ties between the peoples of both nations would grow stronger and deeper.
