Tokyo, Sep 15 (V7N) – A special commemoration and discussion program titled “Remembering Our July Heroes” was organized by the National Citizens Party (NCP) in the Japanese capital on Saturday evening.
The event, held at Hokotopia Hall at 7 pm local time, drew participation from around 300 expatriate Bangladeshis.
The program was chaired by Zubair Ahmed Sardar, NCP’s Asia Affairs Coordinator, while key speeches were delivered by Sarjis Alam, Chief Organizer for the party’s northern region, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, and Joint Chief Coordinator Mahbub Alam.
Speakers highlighted the challenges and opportunities facing expatriate Bangladeshis, while also calling for constitutional amendments to prevent what they described as a return of fascist-style rule similar to that under Sheikh Hasina.
At the outset, a documentary film was screened, paying tribute to those martyred and injured during the July Movement. Several individuals were also honored for their contributions to the movement.
The NCP delegation is on a six-day visit to Japan and is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on September 17.
