Dhaka, Sep 06 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has strongly condemned the attack and vandalism carried out by unruly groups at the Jatiya Party’s central office in Kakrail.

In a statement issued Friday night, signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the party expressed deep concern over the incident, saying such violence goes against the spirit of democracy and the aspirations of the people following the July mass uprising.

“Such an attack and arson incident at the Jatiya Party office will create confusion and disappointment in the public mind in fulfilling the expectations of building a democratic state and society after the July mass uprising. There may be differences of opinion, but preventing freedom of expression through the use of force is an expression of an authoritarian attitude,” the statement read.

BNP further emphasized that the existence of multiple parties is essential for true democracy. “Whether the organizational activities of a political party will continue or not depends on the will of the people. It is inconsistent with universal democratic principles to stop political activities through fear, threats, attacks, or violent behavior,” it added.

The party reiterated its strong condemnation and protest over the attack, warning that such acts undermine democratic values and risk destabilizing the political environment.
