Madaripur, Aug 10 (V7N) — Four leaders of the Shibchar Upazila Committee of the National Citizens Party (NCP) in Madaripur have announced their resignation, citing dissatisfaction with the party’s local leadership.
The resignations were formally declared at a press conference held at the Shibchar Press Club on Saturday afternoon. The leaders are Joint Coordinator Shakil Khan and members Riaz Rahman, Mohiuddin, and Kazi Rafiq.
Speaking at the event, the leaders said they had joined the party with the dream of building a new, prosperous Bangladesh. Initially involved with the National Citizens Committee, they later became part of the NCP when the committee transitioned into a political organization.
However, they claimed that the Shibchar Upazila leadership has been entrusted to “incompetent and controversial individuals” who lack ideological, moral, and organizational capability. This, they said, has resulted in dedicated and loyal members being deprived of proper recognition.
The leaders emphasized that they have no political family background but have been active in various movements, including the quota reform protests. Despite their limited political experience, they joined out of patriotism and a sense of social responsibility.
They added that the current internal realities of the party, coupled with family pressure, have caused them significant mental distress. Maintaining political activities and communication has also created tension within their families.
“After long reflection, we have consciously and completely voluntarily decided to resign from the National Citizens Party. Currently, we are not associated with any political party or organization in Bangladesh,” they stated.
In their closing remarks, the four leaders apologized to the people of Shibchar for any unintentional mistakes, urging all to accept their apologies if anyone’s feelings were hurt.
