Dhaka, Aug 09 (V7N) – BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has declared that “fascism has fallen” in the wake of the student-public uprising in July, describing it as the result of a long struggle and movement. He emphasized that Bangladesh must now move toward building a democratic welfare state through the verdict of the people in the upcoming elections.
Tarique made the remarks on Friday during a post-Juma view-exchange meeting with leaders of the 12-party like-minded alliance, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and the Bangladesh Labor Party at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Begum Selima Rahman, and Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu attended on behalf of the BNP.
Representing the like-minded parties were Mustafa Zaman Haider, Chief Coordinator of the 12-party alliance and Chairman of the Jatiya Party (Kazi Jafar), Dr. Fariduzzaman Farhad, Chief Coordinator of the alliance and Chairman of the NPP, LDP Secretary General Dr. Redwan Ahmed, and Bangladesh Labor Party Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran, among others.
