Dhaka, Aug 08 (V7N) – Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, Standing Committee member of BNP, accused Jamaat-e-Islami of attempting to erase public memory of their sacrifices during the Liberation War through various tactics. He also claimed the party is employing public relations strategies to delay the upcoming national elections.
Hafiz made these remarks at a discussion titled “Anniversary of the Mass Uprising: Speedy Trial, Fundamental Reforms and National Parliament Elections” held at the National Press Club on Friday morning.
“The people do not fall for such PR tactics,” Hafiz said. He stressed the necessity of holding national elections under the current system and expressed surprise at Jamaat-e-Islami’s statements on various issues.
Speaking about the upcoming elections, Hafiz voiced concerns about the lack of reforms in the police force over the past year, warning that peaceful elections might be jeopardized. He urged the public to remain vigilant, alleging that Sheikh Hasina, while in India, is planning various maneuvers to destabilize the country ahead of the polls.
