Dhaka, July 27 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has submitted its annual income and expenditure statement to the Election Commission (EC). A party delegation led by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi handed over the report to EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed on Sunday morning (July 27).
According to the submitted documents, the BNP’s total income for the year stood at Tk 15,65,94,842, while expenditures amounted to Tk 4,80,04,823 — leaving the party with a surplus of Tk 10,85,90,019.
Earlier, on July 7, the EC issued letters to all registered political parties requesting submission of their financial reports for the previous calendar year. However, no letter was sent to the Awami League due to the current suspension of its registration. The remaining 50 registered parties received the EC’s notice.
As per the Representation of the People Order (RPO), political parties must submit their income and expenditure statements to the EC by July 31 each year. Failure to do so for three consecutive years may lead to cancellation of a party’s registration.
Currently, 51 political parties are registered with the EC, but only 50 are active recipients of financial correspondence due to the Awami League’s suspended status.
