Dhaka, July 19, (V7N) – The main activities of Jamaat-e-Islami’s national rally have begun at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, where the park is filled to capacity. Thousands of leaders, activists, and supporters have also gathered in surrounding areas beyond the rally site.

The event formally started at 10 am on Saturday (July 19) with the recitation of the Quran, followed by Hamd and Naat. The main rally activities commenced at 2 pm.

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and other central leaders are present on the rally stage. Leaders of various like-minded political parties, including the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Gana Adhikar Parishad, and Islamic Andolan, also joined the event.

Party Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar stated that the rally aims to convey seven key demands to the people, including establishing a level playing field in politics, the declaration of the July Charter, trial of the genocide, electoral reforms, and holding elections under the proportional representation (PR) system.

Since Friday night, Jamaat leaders and activists have been arriving in Dhaka from across the country to participate in the rally. On Saturday morning, many were seen entering Suhrawardy Udyan in small groups, some carrying the party symbol of scales.
