Dhaka, July 17 (V7N) – Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), strongly defended acting chairman Tarique Rahman, asserting that his image cannot be tarnished through misinformation.
Speaking at a pre-meeting rally organized by the BNP-affiliated Krishak Dal at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan on Thursday, Rizvi highlighted Tarique Rahman’s leadership in the anti-fascist movement over the past 16 years. He credited Rahman’s leadership for the fall of dictatorship on August 5 last year.
Rizvi expressed concern over allegations made by some political parties linking Tarique Rahman to a pre-planned murder in Mitford, describing the claims as “very sad and unwanted.”
He said, “These false accusations are part of ongoing attempts to malign Tarique Rahman’s reputation.”
The BNP leader also warned about various conspiracies aimed at preventing free and fair elections in the country. “Some political parties dislike democratic politics and do not want elections because they cannot win through votes,” he said.
The rally was held in protest against the insulting of former President Ziaur Rahman’s image and derogatory statements made in the name of Tarique Rahman, reaffirming BNP’s commitment to its political agenda.
