Dhaka, July 08 (V7N) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that vested interests are systematically spreading misinformation using the BNP’s name on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, with the intention of discrediting the party.

Speaking at a press conference held at the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan on Tuesday (July 8), Rizvi stated that despite notifying law enforcement agencies about individuals exploiting the BNP name for extortion or spreading chaos, no effective action has been taken. "This deliberate inaction may be intentional," he added.

Rizvi emphasized that the BNP does not tolerate any misuse of the party's identity. “Whenever any such activity is brought to our attention, we immediately take action. Individuals involved in extortion or misconduct are served notices for expulsion, dismissal, or show-cause, depending on the severity,” he said. However, he also noted that such internal disciplinary measures rarely receive media coverage, giving the impression that the party remains inactive.

Criticizing the interim government, Rizvi said that mob culture and administrative stagnation are growing under its rule. “This unelected government is making vague statements to delay the elections, much like Sheikh Hasina’s unconvincing rhetoric about development,” he claimed.

He also accused the police of acting beyond their professional roles, saying that “political statements are coming from those in uniform,” which he sees as a continuation of state machinery being used for political ends.

The BNP leader reiterated his party’s commitment to fair politics and warned against the manipulation of public perception through digital disinformation.
