Dhaka, June 28 (V7N) — Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a 36-day program to commemorate the first anniversary of the July Uprising. The program was unveiled by the party’s Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar at a press conference held at the party’s central office in Moghbazar on Saturday afternoon.
As part of the program, Jamaat will organize a grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on July 19. Special prayers will be offered for the martyrs and the injured of the nationwide uprising on July 1, and party representatives will visit the families of the martyrs and injured between July 8 and 15.
A discussion meeting will be held in Rangpur on July 16 to observe Shaheed Abu Sayeed Day, while a nationwide mass procession is planned for August 5.
Addressing the press, Golam Parwar said, “The July Charter is the government’s promise to the nation. Jamaat-e-Islami hopes that the government will fulfill it.”
The party emphasized that the series of events aim to honor the sacrifices made during the July Uprising and to press for the realization of the commitments outlined in the July Charter.
