DHAKA, June 23 (V7N) – Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), currently leading a high-level party delegation in China, today described the initiatives of the Chinese leadership in Asia-Pacific regional politics as "positive." He expressed hope that these positive steps would expand to a multilateral scale.
The remarks were made during a bilateral meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, according to BNP media cell member Shyrul Kabir Khan. The Chinese delegation was led by Li Hongzhong, a Politburo member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress.
A high-level BNP delegation, headed by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, arrived in China today for a five-day visit at the invitation of the CPC. The delegation includes prominent BNP figures such as Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, and Selima Rahman, as well as Chairperson's Advisors Ismail Zabiullah, Prof Sukomal Barua, Zahir Uddin Swapan, Party Media Cell Convener Prof Dr. Moudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel, and Chairperson's Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.
During the meeting, Li Hongzhong extended an invitation to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to visit China. The CPC expressed optimism that this visit, along with the ongoing delegation's engagement, would elevate relations between the two parties and the two countries to new heights.
Before their meeting with the Chinese delegation, the BNP representatives also visited China Railway Group Limited, suggesting an interest in understanding China's infrastructure development capabilities.
This visit by a high-ranking BNP delegation underscores the party's efforts to strengthen its international diplomatic ties, particularly with key global players like China, which has intensified its engagement with various political parties in Bangladesh since the political changes last year.
