Dhaka, June 19 (V7N) — German Ambassador to Bangladesh Achim Troster paid a courtesy call on Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman at the party’s central office in Moghbazar on Thursday (June 19). The meeting lasted for two hours, from 11 AM to 1 PM.
Following the meeting, Jamaat spokesperson Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand briefed the media, stating that Jamaat-e-Islami is working in coordination with the government to help ensure stability in the country. During the discussions, the party emphasized its commitment to building a society based on justice, fairness, and free from corruption.
The spokesperson also highlighted Jamaat’s role in contributing to Bangladesh’s economy, particularly its involvement in the garment and pharmaceutical industries. Both sides discussed opportunities for further advancing these sectors.
During the meeting, Ambassador Achim Troster underscored Germany’s interest in seeing a fair, acceptable, and participatory national election in Bangladesh. He assured that Germany would extend all necessary cooperation to ensure a credible electoral process.
The German envoy also expressed his country’s willingness to stand by Bangladesh’s development efforts in education, trade, and commerce.
