Dhaka, June 9 (V7N) — The newly formed National Citizen Party (NCP) is preparing to apply for registration with the Election Commission (EC) by June 22, with plans to obtain official recognition by July.
NCP convener Nahid Islam said the party has made significant progress toward fulfilling the formalities required for registration. Since its formal debut as a political party in February, NCP has been actively engaging with the public through road meetings and leaflet distribution at the grassroots level, particularly throughout May. Party leaders claim these efforts have received encouraging responses from citizens.
Regarding the party’s electoral symbol, NCP joint convener Sarwar Tushar mentioned that they are currently considering options that reflect either technology, nature, or Bangladesh’s rural heritage. He emphasized that NCP will operate within a democratic framework, steering clear of personality or family-centric politics.
Despite facing criticism early on as a youth-led party, NCP is now focused on strengthening its organizational structure. Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari stated that an advisory council comprising experienced individuals will soon be formed to guide the party’s future course.
With its sights set on participating in the next national elections, the National Citizen Party is positioning itself as a serious contender in Bangladesh’s evolving political landscape.
