DHAKA, July 29 (V7N)– A probe committee today confirmed that no fire incident occurred at the Foreign Service Academy (FSA) during Monday's dialogue between the National Consensus Commission and various political parties. The clarification comes after the building's fire alarm system was unexpectedly triggered during the high-level talks.
According to an official handout, the investigation found no evidence of any fire or smoke on the premises following the sudden activation of the alarm. The incident, which occurred around midday on Monday, prompted immediate action by academy authorities to identify any potential source of fire or smoke.
In response to the false alarm, the academy swiftly formed a five-member committee to conduct a detailed investigation. The committee, composed of relevant technical and administrative experts, thoroughly examined the site, interviewed eyewitnesses, and analyzed the fire alarm system’s operation before submitting its report.
The committee noted that the academy's staff responded promptly and deactivated the alarm as part of their established emergency protocol. Several possible causes for the false activation were cited, including fluctuations in humidity and temperature, as well as the presence of dust particles or insects within the smoke detectors.Considering the strategic importance of the Foreign Service Academy, the committee recommended a series of preventive and modernization measures. These include the installation of clear signage, the adoption of a comprehensive fire safety plan, and the upgrading of existing fire safety equipment, as detailed in the official handout.
The National Consensus Commission is currently engaged in crucial discussions with political parties, aiming to build consensus on significant constitutional and electoral reforms as part of the "July National Charter 2025." These talks are being held at the Foreign Service Academy, a key diplomatic training institute in Bangladesh.
