Dhaka, July 12 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three individuals, including a woman and her mother-in-law, for providing false information about a bomb on Bangladesh Biman’s Dhaka-Kathmandu flight BG-373. The motive behind the hoax was linked to a personal dispute involving an extramarital affair, RAB confirmed at a press conference on Saturday.

RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman stated that the wife of a young man, who was traveling to Nepal with his extramarital partner, orchestrated the false bomb alert in an attempt to stop the trip. With the help of her mother-in-law, she made a fake call to the airport control tower claiming that a bomb was onboard the aircraft.

The bomb threat led to a temporary suspension of flight BG-373 on Friday. The aircraft, carrying 142 passengers and 7 crew members, was thoroughly searched by security personnel. After confirming the absence of any explosives, authorities cleared the flight for departure once the situation was deemed safe.

RAB has taken legal action against the arrested individuals, warning that such false threats not only create panic but also disrupt national security operations and public safety.
