Jamalpur, July 04 (V7N) – Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, the Adviser for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, today affirmed that Bangladesh's interim government is diligently working towards holding a "good election" for the welfare of the nation.

During a visit to a gas exploration site in Tartapara village, Madarganj Upazila, Khan told journalists, "The government wants to hold a good election so that voters can cast vote in favour the candidate or symbol of their choice in a fair and peaceful atmosphere."

This statement aligns with the interim government's stated primary mandate, led by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, which includes ensuring justice, implementing reforms, and ultimately holding a free, fair, and inclusive election. The government has indicated that the next national elections are planned for April 2026, though some political parties and even the army chief have pressed for an earlier date, potentially by December 2025. The Election Commission recently issued new guidelines for polling center setup, empowering its own officials to ensure impartiality in the process.

When questioned about the potential shutdown of a power plant, Khan responded that a national committee has been formed and will make a decision regarding the matter. This indicates a structured approach to critical energy sector decisions under the interim administration.
