Dhaka, July 04 (V7N) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has disclosed that the brutal rape and torture of a woman in Baherchar village, Muradnagar upazila of Comilla, and the subsequent circulation of the incident’s video on social media, stemmed from a longstanding family dispute between two brothers, Shah Paran and Fajr Ali.

RAB-11 commander Lt. Col. HM Sajjad Hossain explained at a press conference held at the RAB Media Center in Karwan Bazar that Shah Paran orchestrated the attack to seek revenge against his elder brother Fajr Ali due to past enmity.

According to Lt. Col. Sajjad, tensions escalated after Fajr Ali publicly slapped Shah Paran in a village court. Additionally, the victim’s mother had borrowed 50,000 taka from Fajr Ali with interest, further complicating matters.

On the night of the incident, when the victim’s parents were absent, Fajr Ali entered her house under the pretext of collecting interest. Shortly after, Shah Paran, accompanied by several accomplices, forcibly broke into the home, physically tortured, and molested the victim. They recorded an obscene video that was later spread on social media.

Following the incident, Shah Paran and several others went into hiding. Shah Paran was later arrested based on intelligence and confessed during interrogation that the attack was planned as revenge against Fajr Ali. The RAB is continuing efforts to arrest the other accused.

The victim, speaking on July 1, affirmed her determination to pursue justice despite threats to withdraw the case, stating:
"No one had any relationship with me before. Fajr Ali broke the door lock, entered my house, and raped me. I demand the maximum punishment for the criminals."

The case was filed on June 29 under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children and the Pornography Control Act. So far, six people, including Fajr Ali, have been arrested in connection with the crime.
