Dhaka, Sep 10 (V7N) – Voting for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections concluded at 4 pm on Tuesday, but official results were yet to be announced even after more than nine hours of counting, sparking tension and anticipation across the campus.

Thousands of students, candidates, and supporters from various panels thronged the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building, where the vote counting was taking place. By midnight, the building’s conference room was overflowing with people, and crowds continued to swell outside.

In a late-night notification issued around 1 am Tuesday, the university’s Election Commission said that results for DUCSU and hall parliaments would first be declared from the eight individual centers. Later, the official DUCSU results would be announced in front of the Senate Building instead of its auditorium.

Meanwhile, heavy gatherings were reported at Shahbagh and other key points around the university. Leaders and activists of different student and political groups took positions, while law enforcement agencies were deployed in and around the campus to maintain order.

Polling, which began at 8 am, continued smoothly until 4 pm. However, allegations and counter-allegations were lodged throughout the day by different panels. Counting started around 5 pm, but as of early Wednesday, no results had been declared.
