Dhaka, Sept 3 (V7N) – Universal College Bangladesh (UCBD), the exclusive partner of Monash College in Australia, has concluded the orientation program for its third intake of the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) 2025 cohort. The orientation was held at UCBD’s Gulshan campus, welcoming new students and their families to the globally recognised foundation program.
Successful completion of MUFY guarantees students admission to Monash University in Australia or Monash Malaysia. The event opened with a welcome address by Professor Muhammad Ismail Hossain, Dean of Academic Affairs at UCBD, followed by a keynote speech from Professor Hew Gill, President and Provost of UCBD.
“I would like to congratulate all our new students who are joining a guaranteed pathway to Monash University. Our results surpass those in Australia, and enrolments continue to rise because students and parents trust UCBD as a bridge to world-class international education,” said Professor Gill.
Speakers at the event included Daniel Lum from International Recruitment and Development at Monash University Malaysia, and Azra Karim, Monash University Representative in Bangladesh. Azra Karim commended UCBD for maintaining high academic standards and fostering a supportive, globally focused learning environment.
Program Coordinator and Senior Lecturer Ambreen Zaman presented a detailed overview of the MUFY curriculum, highlighting its model of continuous assessment that replaces traditional final exams. Deputy Registrar Shafik Waes introduced key academic policies and procedures, while Marzia Al-Hakeen, Head of Student Support, outlined the range of services and extracurricular opportunities available to students.
Additionally, IT Executive Biplab Paul provided a tutorial on registering and using Monash’s advanced online learning systems.
A parallel orientation session was held for parents, led by Professor Hew Gill and Samia Salam, Parent Engagement Counsellor. The session explained the various MUFY pathways and how the program enables access to Monash University and other top-tier institutions worldwide.
UCBD is the first Ministry of Education-approved provider of international foundation and undergraduate programs in Bangladesh. It offers multiple academic pathways for students from O/AS/A Levels and SSC/HSC backgrounds to pursue higher education abroad or complete international degrees from institutions such as the University of London (LSE), University of Central Lancashire, and others on its Dhaka campus.
