Feni, Aug 21 (V7N) – Students of Feni University staged a protest on Thursday, blocking the Dhaka-Chittagong highway to press for six demands, including the construction of a permanent campus.
The students positioned themselves on the highway in the Mahipal area of the upazila headquarters, blocking two lanes of traffic toward Dhaka and Chittagong, causing inconvenience to passengers. After about 30 minutes, the students cleared the highway, and traffic resumed.
Among their six-point demands, the students called for the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor and the introduction of bus transport for the university. They expressed frustration that even after 13 years of its establishment, the permanent campus has not been built, disrupting their studies.
Earlier, in response to the protests, the university's Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jamaluddin Ahmed, resigned on Wednesday night.
