The award ceremony took place at 1:00 PM at the Mongla Upazila Auditorium in Bagerhat district. Presiding over the event was District Education Officer Mohammad Sadekul Islam. Mongla Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sharmin Akhter Sumi attended as the chief guest, while Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Moniruzzaman, Lecturer Sahara Begum of Mongla Government College, and Upazila Academic Supervisor Shyamapada Mondal were also present as special guests.
UNO Sharmin Akhter Sumi personally handed over the awards to the students and commended them for their excellence. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of nurturing talent for long-term success and encouraged students to grow into self-reliant and socially responsible citizens.
“Achieving academic success is just the beginning,” she said. “Students must channel their education into making meaningful contributions to society. Being truly educated means becoming independent and dedicated to the betterment of others.”
The event was attended by heads of various educational institutions, school management committee members, parents, and students, all of whom praised the initiative for encouraging academic excellence in the region.
The Performance-Based Grants initiative is part of a national effort to recognize and reward academic merit at the secondary level, aiming to foster motivation and improve overall educational outcomes.
