Dhaka, July 29 (V7N) – The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections are set to be held on September 9, 2025, according to an official announcement made on Tuesday afternoon.

The election schedule was announced by Professor Jasim Uddin, Chief Returning Officer and faculty member of the Department of Botany, at a press briefing held at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.

Voting will take place from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the day of the election. The full election process has been scheduled as follows:

Election Timeline:

  • Publication of draft voter list: July 30, 2025

  • Deadline for objections to draft list: August 6, 2025 (by 4 PM)

  • Publication of final voter list: August 11, 2025 (at 4 PM)

  • Distribution of nomination forms: August 12–18, 2025 (10 AM–4 PM)

  • Last date to submit nomination papers: August 19, 2025 (by 3 PM)

  • Scrutiny of nomination papers: August 20, 2025

  • Preliminary candidate list: August 21, 2025 (by 1 PM)

  • Deadline to withdraw nomination: August 25, 2025 (by 1 PM)

  • Final candidate list publication: August 26, 2025 (by 4 PM)

  • Voting and result announcement: September 9, 2025 (votes counted immediately after polls close)

This will be the first DUCSU election in over six years, following the historic election held on March 11, 2019, which came after a 28-year hiatus. The return of student governance at DU is expected to once again generate significant political interest and student participation across all halls.
