Jhalokathi, Sept. 19 (V7N) — Vishwakarma Puja was celebrated with enthusiasm and festivity in Kathalia upazila of Jhalokathi on Friday.
The puja was organized by the Kathalia Barbers’ Association at the Kathalia Central Puja Mandap in the morning.
A range of programmes was held as part of the celebration, including religious rituals, offering of food to the deity, arati, cultural performances and distribution of prasad among devotees.
Over the two days preceding the puja, various salons and shops owned by members of the Hindu community across Kathalia were cleaned and decorated in preparation for the festival. Festive decorations were also put up throughout the upazila.
Sujan Chandra Shil, a member of the Kathalia Upazila Barbers’ Association, said the puja was being celebrated in a festive atmosphere as it is every year.
“As it is a public festival, people from different religious communities are taking part in the celebration,” he said.
