Comilla, Oct 27 (V7N)- Eleven brokers have been arrested at Comilla Medical College Hospital for harassing patients across various levels of the medical system, including treatment, and have been sentenced to 20 days of non-communal imprisonment by a mobile court.
The operation was conducted on Monday morning (October 27) under the supervision of Comilla District Administration Executive Magistrate Nowroz Qoraishi Dripte. Initially, 14 individuals were arrested from different areas of the hospital. After preliminary interrogation, 11 were found directly involved in the malpractice and were sentenced.
Major Sadman Ibne Alam, Company Commander of Comilla RAB-11, CPC-2, who oversaw the operation, said that brokers ranging from ward boys to ambulance drivers have long exploited patients and their relatives. “Every day, countless patients are cheated while seeking treatment. The level of brokerage in Comilla Medical College has become unacceptable,” he said.
He added that RAB operations will continue to eliminate all brokers in the medical field and restore discipline within the hospital.
