Pabna, MAY 27 (V7N) – A young man named Rony Mondal (24) has succumbed to stab wounds in Pabna, an incident believed to be rooted in a previous enmity. Police have arrested Emon Hossain (27) in connection with the murder.

Rony Mondal passed away on Monday morning (May 26) while receiving treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. He had been stabbed in the Launchghat area of Pabna Sadar Upazila around 12 AM on Sunday (May 25).

Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam confirmed the details of the incident.

The deceased, Rony Mondal, was the son of Jahangir Mondal from the Char-Ashutoshpur Launch Ghat Paschimpara area of Dogachhi Union in Sadar Upazila. The arrested individual, Emon Hossain, is the son of Shukur Ali from the Char Koshakhali Launch Ghat area in the same upazila.

According to local and family sources, Rony and Emon had a long-standing dispute. On Sunday night, Emon reportedly lured Rony to the Launch Ghat area, stabbed him, and then fled the scene. Locals rescued Rony and initially admitted him to Pabna General Hospital. As his condition worsened, doctors transferred him to Rajshahi Medical College, where he died during treatment.

Regarding the case, Pabna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam stated, "The accused Emon was arrested the night after the incident. An investigation is underway to determine the exact reason for the stabbing and what was involved. However, initial information suggests a previous dispute."

The OC also mentioned that after the autopsy at Rajshahi Medical College, Rony's body would be sent to Pabna, and legal action would be pursued. The process of filing a case is currently underway.
